“FRIDAY THE 13th”
It’s now the day after the general election and Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been returned to office with a significant majority. As a result he is now able to govern without having to pander to extremists and hardliners. I now expect him to pull back from the right and towards the centre.

The new conservative MP’s are unknown not even to their local constituents so getting to know your MP especially the ruling party members is imperative.

Because Mr Johnson is free to govern he must take his time and not rush. He must choose a good cabinet and ministers based on ability, competence and good moral standards. The people must trust MP’s and government again. When the PM speaks or other ministers, we must believe them, because truth and honesty matters.

Our world is full of fake news and lies. Nothing is sacred anymore: no office, facts and information and news from the mass media. It’s now possible to invent alternative facts and reality.

The week of prayer leading up to the general election included praying for the eventual leader. Both potential leaders has flaws as do all men and women. The big difference is ordinary people don’t wield governmental power so leaders must operate at a higher standard of morality and conduct.

Let us continue to pray for the PM for he must change so he can bring change. A one nation government is a great slogan and very aspirational.

The UK has been divided for the past three years over Brexit. This division has been exacerbated by politicians and the media to shore up their base to the detriment of the nation I pray healing will be administered.

Jesus in the beatitudes taught us “blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God”.

I call upon the PM to turn his mastery of words to bring healing. Let us also pray that the gospel will enter Downing Street for it is the power of God unto salvation.

Friday the 13th in popular culture is a bad omen. I am not superstitious I am a believer, a man of faith in the true and living God.

Time will tell whether this day will be the start of a nightmare government and prime minister or not. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.

God save the UK.

Our platform is the world and our congregation the people.

The Lord’s servant
